I needed a trailer to replace the ailling one at the stables. I scanned ebay for weeks but to no avail. After several failed bids I managed to secure a Sankey less than forty miles away from home. The deal was done and into the bargain came a NATO hitch. The trailer was advertised as a narrow track trailer but it is in fact the wide track version.
I started by giving the chap his number plate back. The existing tow ball had a pin for a towing eye but the eye on the trailer was too big to fit the jaws of the hitch. That meant the trailer was going nowhere. After a spot of thinking Paul suggested a bodge. We had to remove the drop plate, the step and tow ball and then bodge the hitch to the rear cross member. A bit of thought and screwed rod and the job was done. All the lights work except the indicators however you can see my vehicle indicators over the trailer, especially in the dark. And with that I was off.
I think the indicator problem is not trailer but the plug on Degsy. So all I need is a number plate but I would like a Jockey wheel and a cover.
£244.88 for the trailer plus hitch and £20 for petrol. NATO hitches go for about £50/60 so the trailer and hitch was something of a bargain.
